2009 National Corvette Caravan
Arriving at Danbury Fair on
August 30, 2009

Hundreds of vintage, late model, and new Chevrolet Corvettes will be converging on the Danbury Fair shopping center around 11:30 AM on August 30, 2009 as they make their way on a 1250 mile trek to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Danbury Fair is our official State of Connecticut 2009 Caravan stop, the second major stop on the New England Region Corvette Caravan route.

For those on the Shoreline and Southern regions of Connecticut, Sunday morning, August 30th, begins with a gathering at one of our 2009 Caravan sponsors, David McDermott Auto Group's McDermott Chevrolet in East Haven, Connecticut.

Joe Cetta, McDermott's Director of Fixed Operations, is our site host and will be joining us on the Caravan. McDermott is summoning all Corvettes going on the Caravan, and those Corvettes just day Cruising-In to the Danbury Fair shopping center, to gather at the dealership's specific Corvette-only showroom, for a morning nosh and pep rally before winding their way up to the Danbury Fair to join up with the New England Region Caravan coming in from Danvers, Massachusetts.

Festivities should begin around 8 AM and departure is planned such that this mini-Caravan arrives at the Mall before 10 AM. This should be a fun time to pump up your excitement for the amazing week to follow. Come over to McDermott Sunday morning to begin your Corvette Caravan adventure!!!! More details will be forthcoming as we approach the big day.

Situated in Western Connecticut, Danbury Fair s one of New England's largest indoor retail shopping centers, located near the former site of Connecticut's famous and historic Danbury Fair. This premier facility offers a comfortable, contemporary, tranquil environment with soft seating, a large panoramic style food court and dining area, family style restrooms, and a fully operating double-deck Carousel. With over 170 nationally known retail stores, Caravaners will have plenty of browsing and shopping choices during our stop over. For more information about Danbury Fair visit www.DanburyFairMall.com

Our New England Caravan will be provided with ample secure parking and of course lots of Connecticut and Danbury Fair hospitality during the stop over. And smile!!!...we are expecting lots of media!!!!

We are also inviting all Corvette owners and enthusiasts not able to come to Bowling Green, to join in the Caravan excitement and NCM 15th Anniversary Celebration, by designating Sunday, August 30th as a Corvette Cruise-In Day to the Danbury Fair shopping center. So spread the word to all Corvettes in the Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, and Eastern New York areas to come by 10 AM and give the "Wave" as our Caravan arrives and departs. Let's see if we can make it one of, if not, the biggest gatherings of Corvettes in New England for 2009!

Our stop at Danbury will also be serviced by the conveniently located Exxon At The Danbury Fair Mall Service Station. Owned and operated by Tony Randhawa, the official State of Connecticut 2009 Caravan gas station is only 0.5 miles from the Danbury Fair entrance and convenient to visit before entering the Caravan parking area if your Corvette needs refueling first. The station has a very accommodating entrance and exit path and plenty of pumps.

All in all, your Caravan leadership is trying to provide you with a great experience from start to finish, and we are sure you will enjoy your stop and rest and lunchtime activity at the grand Danbury Fair. And make sure you find time to take a spin on the Carousel!!!!

For those Caravaners (or any Corvette enthusiast for that matter) who want to get a jump start Sunday morning, and come to Danbury on Saturday, August 29th, your Caravan leadership has designated the Residence Inn by Marriott-Danbury as the official State of Connecticut hotel for the Danbury stop of the 2009 New England Region Corvette Caravan.

Our hosts, Hanne Raby, Director of Sales, and Susan Perrothers, General Manager, promise a welcoming bit of hospitality and wonderful accommodations. The hotel is right off Interstate I-84 and adjacent to the Danbury Fair shopping center, so convenience is a given!! And Hanne promises hoses and towels will be provided for those Caravaners wanting to "spit and polish" before the next day's afternoon departure. You can call 203-797-1256 for booking a reservation...just tell them you're with the 2009 Corvette Caravan.

Depending on how many people book into the Residence Inn, we are looking at setting up a dinner at Chuck's Steak House right next door (walk to) and an evening preview of Danbury Fair, its secure parking area, and of course, The Carousel!!!

So the official second stop of the 2009 New England Region Corvette Caravan should be a great experience for all Corvette enthusiasts, whether you are just Cruising-In for the day to "Wave" us farewell or lucky enough to go Caravaning on this amazing Corvette adventure to the 15th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum and its new building expansion!!!!
